Fund Momentum ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

  • Personal Information: When you register for an account, we collect your name and email address.
  • Payment Information: When you subscribe to our paid plans, your payment information is collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe. Fund Momentum does not store or process your full credit card details.
  • Usage Data: We collect information about your interactions with the Service, such as your search queries (country, funding stage, industry focus) and funds you save to your favorites.
  • Google Analytics and Search Console Data: We use Google Analytics 4 to collect usage data such as page views, session duration, traffic sources, and device/browser information, and Google Search Console to see which search queries lead to our pages. Both are provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) and Google LLC. Google Analytics is only loaded after you consent to analytics cookies.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience and analyze usage patterns. See our detailed "Cookies and Tracking" section below for comprehensive information.
  • Newsletter Subscription Data: When you subscribe to our "Cutting Through the Noise" newsletter via the embedded Substack form, your email address is collected and processed directly by Substack Inc. in accordance with their privacy policy. Fund Momentum does not directly access or store subscriber email addresses from the Substack platform. You can review the Substack Privacy Policy for more details.
  • MCP API Data: When you use the Fund Momentum MCP API, we collect your API key for authentication, the tool calls you make (including search parameters and fund slugs), and usage counts for rate limiting. For the match_startup tool, the startup description you provide is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. We do not store startup descriptions after the matching response is returned.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our Service.
  • Improve, personalize, and expand our Service.
  • Communicate with you, including for customer service and to send you updates about the Service.
  • Monitor and analyze usage and trends via Google Analytics to improve your experience.
  • Prevent fraudulent activity.
  • Authenticate and rate-limit MCP API access
  • Process AI-powered startup matching via third-party AI providers (Anthropic)

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following situations:

  • With Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors that help us operate our Service, such as Google (Analytics 4 and Search Console) for usage analysis, Stripe for secure payment processing, Anthropic for AI-powered matching, and Substack for the newsletter.
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

4. Data Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Web Analytics (Google Analytics 4 and Search Console)

We do not operate an analytics system of our own. All web analytics on fundmomentum.vc run through Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Search Console.

  • Google Analytics 4: Records page views, session duration, approximate location (country/city derived from a truncated IP address, which Google does not store), device and browser type, traffic sources, and events such as searches, fund saves and sign-ups. GA4 is loaded only after you accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Retention of user-level data in GA4 is set to 14 months.
  • Google Search Console: Shows us which Google search queries lead to our pages, aggregated by Google. Search Console does not set cookies on our site and does not identify individual visitors.
  • Data transfers: Google may process this data in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; where that does not apply, Standard Contractual Clauses are in place. Details: policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Opt-out: Reject analytics cookies in our banner, change your preference below, or install Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use various types of cookies and tracking technologies to provide and improve our Service:

Types of Cookies We Use

  • Essential Cookies: These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They include authentication cookies, session management, and security features. Duration: Session or up to 30 days.
  • Analytics Cookies: Set by Google Analytics 4 only after your consent (see section 5). Duration: up to 2 years.
  • Functional Cookies: These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization, such as remembering your preferences and settings. Duration: Up to 12 months.

  • Anthropic: We use Anthropic's Claude API to power the match_startup tool in our MCP API. Startup descriptions submitted for matching are sent to Anthropic for processing. You can review Anthropic's Privacy Policy for more details.

These third parties have their own privacy policies and cookie practices. We recommend reviewing their policies to understand how they handle your data.

7. Your Data Rights (GDPR/CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including:

  • The right to access, update, or delete the information we have on you.
  • The right to object to our processing of your personal data.
  • The right to data portability.
  • The right to withdraw consent to analytics cookies at any time.

Right to lodge a complaint: If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority for us is the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, Austria, dsb.gv.at.

Legal bases: We process personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract, e.g. your account and subscription), Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent, e.g. non-essential cookies and analytics), Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests, e.g. security, fraud prevention and internal service improvement) and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (legal obligations, e.g. accounting records).

Analytics and Cookie-Related Rights

Regarding analytics and tracking, you have the right to:

  • Withdraw your consent to non-essential cookies at any time
  • Access information about the cookies set on your device
  • Request deletion of any personal data we hold about you

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your personal data when it's transferred internationally, including using Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission when necessary.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to:

  • Provide you with our Service
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information by law.

Analytics Data Retention

  • Google Analytics 4: User-level and event data is retained by Google for 14 months, aggregated reports for longer.
  • Google Search Console: Query data is retained by Google for 16 months in aggregated form.

10. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
